WSM
Radio
The Grand Ole
Opry has been broadcast live on WSM-AM since 1925, making it
the longest running live radio show.
WSM-AM is
broadcast from the Opryland complex and has a country music
format. WSM-AM is one of the nation's 25 “clear channel”
stations, meaning that no other station in a 750-mile radius
uses the same frequency for nighttime broadcasts.
As a result, the
station's signal, transmitted by a 50,000-watt transmitter,
can be heard at night in much of the United States and parts
of Canada. The Company also has radio broadcast studios in
Gaylord Opryland and the Ryman Auditorium.
