Phil Coffey

Phil Coffey is
senior vice president and general manager of
Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, the
luxurious 2,000-room property in National Harbor, Maryland.
Coffey, who
has over 32 years of experience in the hospitality and hotel
management industry, joined Gaylord Entertainment in October
2008 from Marriott Hotels in Orlando, Florida. He began his
Marriott career as a management trainee in the housekeeping
discipline. Over the next several years he held positions as
director of services, assistant front office manager, and
front office manager in Kansas City before becoming a
resident manager in Atlanta.
He then opened
the Hilton Head Marriott as resident manager before moving
to New York City to become the regional director of rooms
operations. In addition to multi-unit responsibilities, he
participated in the opening of four hotels in the region
including the New York Marquis.
After serving
as resident manager at the New York Essex House, Coffey
accepted his first general manager's assignment, opening the
Hanover Marriott in New Jersey. He then relocated to
Nashville, Tennessee as general manager of the Airport
Marriott, followed by additional assignments as cluster
manager, and market manager for all lodging brands in the
state.
Coffey moved
to Orlando as market vice president of Florida, responsible
for all brands. His final assignment was general manager of
the Orlando World Center for the past eight years.
