Gaylord's entertainment
portfolio includes the Ryman Auditorium, known by many as the "Carnegie Hall
of the South."
The Ryman Auditorium is
one of the most acoustically-perfect venues in America. For more than 107 years,
it has showcased performers in nearly all musical genres, from country and bluegrass
to gospel, classical music and more. It also served as home to the Grand Ole Opry
from 1943 to 1974. An $8 million dollar renovation in 1994 transformed the Ryman
into a state-of-the-art contemporary performance hall that is now visited by more
than 350,000 people annually. This 2,362 seat auditorium is open for day tours,
hosts annual performance series in contemporary and bluegrass music, has a musical
theater season and frequently showcases America's best-loved performers. It is
also home to Gaylord's historic collection of country music memorabilia, including
a rich photographic history of the Grand Ole Opry and its stars.
